Hamburg, 25 May, 2018 – Hamburg and the CCH – Congress Center Hamburg — are pleased to be selected to host the 2021 annual meeting of the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR). The largest global gathering of stem cell scientists, ISSCR 2021 will bring as many as 4,000 researchers from around the world to Hamburg to share and discuss the latest news and discoveries in the stem cell field.
Hamburg, 12 March 2018 – Nele Aumann has taken on the role of head of the Hamburg Convention Bureau’s (HCB) Conventions unit. As part of her new position, she will be coordinating the unit’s team of six in charge of marketing Hamburg as a MICE destination in Germany and abroad. With this, the HCB’s executive tier is yet again complete.
Hamburg to host the 2021 ITS World Congress: strategic focus on cluster events is once again paying off
Hamburg, 01 November 2017 – The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg has won the bid to host the 2021 World Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). The decision of the international ITS committee was announced last night by the European interest group ERTICO-ITS and Hamburg Senator Frank Horch during the Hamburg evening at the 2017 ITS World Congress in Montréal, Canada. In addition to Hamburg, there were three other international cities competing to host this large-scale event.
London, 20 October 2017 – The City of Hamburg is on tour, providing locals with the opportunity to hear, feel and experience the rhythm of Hamburg first-hand. This is the essence of the Hamburg on Tour live communication event that was kicked off in London yesterday. Over the next few days, London’s locals will be able to experience Hanseatic design, maritime flair, networking and exchange opportunities with stakeholders from science and business, and plenty of culture and music – facilitated by the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, festivals from the Hamburg Metropolitan Region, as well as partners such as the CraftBeerMarket and the FC St. Pauli football club. A dedicated networking reception on Thursday with some 130 guests from science and business marked the successful launch of the event.
Hamburg, 25 August 2017 – The number of conference and convention guests in Hamburg continues to grow. According to the most recent Conference and Convention Market Survey commissioned by the Hamburg Convention Bureau GmbH, the number of overnight stays attributable to meetings, incentives, conventions and events (MICE) increased from about 2.3 million in 2013 to approx. 3.0 million in 2016, with a potential monetary value added of more than 706.5 million euro.
Establishment of new conference hotel as a further milestone for Hamburg as a convention destination
Hamburg, 22 August 2017 – The recent decision to establish an international conference hotel in Hamburg’s HafenCity district represents a further important step on the road to becoming a competitive meetings and convention destination. Once completed in 2021, Hamburg will be able to offer a much broader range of options for hosting medium-sized conventions. The Hamburg Convention Bureau GmbH (HCB) believes that this will increase Hamburg’s position when it comes to competing with major international convention destinations.
Hamburg, 23 November 2016 – The Hamburg Convention Bureau GmbH (HCB) will be marketing Hamburg as a congress and conference destination at one of the world’s leading trade fairs. From 29 November to 1 December 2016, the HCB will be presenting Hamburg to event organisers from around the globe at the ibtm world 2016 in Barcelona, Spain. Under the umbrella of the Hamburg brand, the HCB and the CCH – Congress Center Hamburg will jointly invite trade visitors to explore both Hamburg’s diversity and professionalism for the first time at the regions counter of the German Convention Bureau.
The “Wissen schaf(f)t Kongresse” event at the Congress Center Hamburg: bringing more scientific congresses to Hamburg
Hamburg, 22 November 2016 – Scientific congresses contribute to Hamburg’s attractiveness: events such as the 6th European Congress of Virology not only add to value creation in Hamburg, but also bring experts to the city who will make contacts, initiate projects, get to know Hamburg’s academic landscape and exchange knowledge. To further enhance these sustainable effects, the Hamburg Convention Bureau GmbH (HCB) and the Hamburg Ministry for Science, Research and Equality (BWFG) have jointly created a platform aimed at encouraging local academics to actively engage in congress acquisition. Katharina Fegebank, Hamburg’s Second Mayor and Senator of Science, Research and Equality, will be the patroness of the event.
Hamburg, 17 October 2016 – The Hamburg Convention Bureau is to present Hamburg’s diversity as a meetings destination at IMEX America in Las Vegas from 18 to 20 October 2016. IMEX America, the American MICE trade fair, will also be the starting point for launching “Unpack Hamburg” – a cross-media campaign initiated by the HCB and aimed at systematically attracting international organisers’ interest in Hamburg as a conference and congress location.
Hamburg, 30 September 2016 – As of 1 October 2016, the Hamburg Marketing GmbH (HMG) holding and its subsidiaries will be managed by two directors: Dr Rolf Strittmatter will continue as the holding’s managing director and as managing director of the HWF Hamburg Business Development Corporation, and Michael Otremba will be the new managing director of both Hamburg Tourismus GmbH and Hamburg Convention Bureau GmbH.
